Subsidies for biodiesel create a mess and what have we learned?

Posted at 23 July 2008 14:46

Let us consider the issue of algae fuel. I am not just talking here about whether you have the stamina to put in long hours. The issue if whether you have the willingness to put everything and everyone else on hold.

I love the posting, I made a copy and share:

By John J. Fialka Climatewire: As far as Congress was concerned, the road to developing a U.S. biodiesel industry was paved with good intentions. In 2004, as part of the American Jobs Creation Act, it provided tax incentives to stimulate a growing supply of renewable fuel that would reduce U.S. greenhouse gas emissions. It also wanted to create a new source of domestic fuel that would lower the nation's addiction to imported oil. Nevertheless what has happened instead is a grand mess. Millions of ..>>.

Do not believe for a minute that I am going to be successful to spend almost every waking hour by not working at a specific task that I love.

The survival of our civilization may depend in no small part on that scummy green stuff you avoid at the beach. Theirs feuding about whether really to call algae plants, since they can be unicellular and since blue-green algae are actually bacteria. Nevertheless they are photosynthesizing organisms, which means they're good at capturing the energy of the sun and turning it into another form. Start with sunshine, add some water and some carbon dioxide, and BAM!, you've got algae. Algae use that ..next.

You would be amazed at this. Moreover, you should be surprised to learn.

Put out the flags. I've reached the 1000 postmark. I started this in October 2006 with an open if sceptical mind. Its been a lot of fun so far. I've met a whole bunch of people who have commented on what I've written and offered suggestions and I'd like to thank you for that. I've also come to some conclusions about biofuels in my first 1000 posts on this topic. So here's my take on the state of the biofuel industry at the moment. That there's a lot of misinformation. That there's real ....

I want to say thanks by spreading the good feelings I have.
