Smithfield To Turn Hog Waste Into Fuel

Oil Producing Algae Smithfield Foods Inc. (SFD.N), the nation's largest pork producer, said on Friday it will build a $20 million facility in Utah that will use waste from 500,000 hogs to make biodiesel, a renewable vehicle fuel.

Do you need a new fuel tank A replacement or maybe an auxiliary Don° fret, here at Parts Train we provide you with only the best. We have in stock a wide variety of fuel tanks that could serve you best. Not only that we also have fuel transfer tank, diesel fuel tank, auxiliary fuel tank, fuel oil tank, aluminum fuel tank, replacement fuel tank, truck fuel tank, custom fuel tank, fuel tank repair kit, inverted fuel tank, fuel tank gauges, fuel tank accessories, exterior fuel tank sealer and a whole lot more.

Algae Oil Production Biodiesel is an alternative fuel that can be made from any fat including vegetable oil and used cooking oil. About 15 million gallons were used in the United States last year.

Yes, ULSD fuels have a lower BTU value and thus when burned in a diesel engine will result in less power. Cetane enhanced products can offset this power loss. Cetane is a high energy compound that makes the fuel burn more completely in the combustion chamber, resulting in more power, reduced emissions, and improved fuel economy. Power Service diesel additives contain "+ Cetane Boost" to offset this power loss while also improving fuel economy and reducing emissions.

Algae Bio Fuel Smithfield said it will be the major partner in BEST BioFuel LLC, a partnership that will build the plant at Smithfield-owned swine production facilities near Milford, Utah.

Lubricity additives will not be added at the refinery to replace the reduced sulfur content. Some diesel fuel additives do contain lubricity additives. Advance Auto Parts carries Power Service brand diesel additives that contain a proprietary lubricity additive called "Slickdiesel", for maximum fuel lubrication. 5. Customer notices their diesel engine has lost power since the introduction of ULSD. Is this a result of the new fuels

Algae Fuel Cell ``Livestock waste can be a source of clean, renewable vehicle fuel,'' said Robert F. Urell, Smithfield senior vice president, engineering and environmental affairs, in a news release.

Fuel for Life Diesel Fuel for Life Him is Fresh, addictive and truly unique. With crisp vibrations of star anise and grapefruit, flashes of raspberry and lavender, and seductive waves of heliotrope and vetiver woods, Diesel "Fuel For Life" must be used with caution.

Algae Based Fuels The Smithfield facility will be built at Circle Four Farms in southwest Utah. Construction is scheduled to start in April, pending final approval of a conditional use permit and a permit from the Utah Department of Environmental Quality.

Until now, only the owners of gas and outboard engines could take advantage of fuel flow meters to get the best economy from their engines. engine fuel systems constantly return unused fuel to the tank, computing the flow proved problematic. FloScan's Series K Fuel Flow Monitoring Systems for diesel engines solve this problem in affordable fashion. Just plumb the existing fuel and return lines, and connect the sensor to the meter for easy installation. Since these sensors mount remotely, you can place them anywhere you wish.

Diesel From Algae Smithfield's Utah swine operation produces about 1 million market hogs a year, and the biodiesel project will use the waste from about half of those hogs, the company said.

Green Fuel Algae ``The Utah facility is a specially suited location for this because we are able to order the waste in pipes,'' said Dennis Treacy, Smithfield's vice president of environmental affairs and government relations.

Algae Fuel Production About 90 percent of U.S. biodiesel is made from soybean oil. U.S. biodiesel use increased to about 15 million gallons in 2002 from 500,000 in 1999.

Bio Diesel From Algae For the Smithfield project hog waste will be collected and processed into biogas which will then be converted into biomethanol. The biomethanol will be transported to a plant outside of Utah for processing into biodiesel fuel using soybean oil, animal fat or used cooking oil.

Biodiesel Fuel From Algae Use of animal waste for biodiesel is rare but the methanol from the waste could be used for the fuel, said Fred Mayes, a manager at the U.S. Energy Information Administration, the statistical arm of the U.S. Department of Energy.

Algae Into Fuel ``By starting with methanol, which is a fairly clean substance compared with grease, you are improving the mix and my guess is you would be improving some of the specific characteristics of the biodiesel,'' Mayes said.

Algae Fuel Source The Smithfield facility could start producing fuels as early as October, the company said.

Algae Gas Smithfield Foods is the leading processor and marketer of fresh pork and processed meats, and the largest hog producer, in the United States.
